When someone cheerfully tells you to be grateful for what you have,
What really goes on in your mind?
In the back of your mind, if you tell the truth, aren’t you sometimes saying, “Yeah, Right?”
In fact, Gratitude really is the ultimate door to receivership.
I’m sorry to have to tell you this,
Get Over It!
That annoyance is half the battle.
Your brain is wired to give you what you expect. It even completely tunes out things you say you want, but are the opposite of your mental focus.
Don’t think of a pink elephant. Instantly, that’s all you could see. (OK, I helped a little, I admit.)
Some people say “I can’t visualize, so that doesn’t work for me.” Sometimes it takes practice to be aware of what you’re visualizing, but you do it all the time.
Think of a house.
Instantly some image came into your mind’s eye. You can’t help it.
Think of dollar bills raining from above. OK, maybe a little more challenging as you haven’t seen that before, but if you allowed the thought in, some picture came forward.
If you are not grateful for what you already have, let me ask you, why you would be given more?
When you express gratitude, then you start sifting and sorting for more to be grateful for.
The more grateful you are the more you are attuned to the abundance, the goodness, the gifts you have, more unexpected gifts come your way.
I can hear you, “Yeah, yeah, that’s all well and good, but I still gotta pay the rent.”
If you are focused on the lack of money to pay the rent, that is a sure prescription for shutting down all creativity to be able to pay the rent. If you close your eyes, and breathe for 5 minutes, then express gratitude for the rent that will be on time, you are far more likely to come up with a solution.
While you’re at it, feel the gratitude of having a home that meets your current needs, shelters you, gives you a kitchen, running water, a modern bathroom. Put aside the spectre of losing it, or a history of losing one, but focus here and now on the gratitude for the home you have. Let your heart fill up with gratitude for your landlord who leaves you in peace, takes care of the property, and entrusted you to take care of his/her home.
See yourself in each room, utilizing it the way you do.
Then see yourself in your ideal home. That doesn’t change the gratitude for what you have. You can also be grateful in your mind’s eye for what you have…and envision moving through rooms, or sitting on the deck, or by the fireplace, in your ideal home.
Money raining from heaven is playful and fun. (Click on this picture and watch the money rain fall.)
You have to know how much money you have and how much you want to have. AND, to the extent that you can walk, talk, be the person who knows what they really want and WHY, and can feel grateful for all the steps along the way, then it is only a matter of moving through the gestation time.
You may be wondering what this has to do with marketing or building your home business.
Having the clarity of where you are headed, the ideal customer, the ideal business partners, allows you to train your brain to see them everywhere. If you’re feeling broke, scared, desperate, you’re going to attract broke, scared, desperate people in confusion to you. If you know that you have all the ingredients in place and tune out everything unlike you’re ideal, you will bring that forward to you.
