Most Network Marketers are always asking, “How can I find leads, prospects to call?”
Is that you? Are you a member of the NFL (No Friends Left) Club?
How would you like to have a never-ending stream of people to share your opportunity with?
Let’s talk today about the difference between Leads and Prospects, and how to have that never-ending stream.
Definition of a Lead: Someone to speak with to qualify them to find out if they could be a fit for your business, either as a customer or a partner.
Definition of a Prospect: Someone with whom you have had a qualifying conversation, who has shown some interest in getting more information to become either a customer or a partner.
No one is really a prospect until you have had a qualifying conversation. If you were on my team, we would have some training on how to have that conversation.
The worst way to get started is to just blindly call friends and family, without any training, and tell them they’ve just gotta join your deal. A few of those conversations, usually with disastrous results, is enough to dampen the most enthusiastic recruit.
Just because you know someone doesn’t make them a prospect. It may make them a lead.
And, if you are not going to dump all over friends and family (if you haven’t already burned out that market), who do you talk with?
Where do we find those leads?
This is a bit tricky, as it goes back to the original Vision and commitment you have. If you’ve been dragged into a company kicking and screaming, with a vague vision of sipping drinks on the beach, but no real belief in the products, the company, yourself, you will not be able to think of a single lead.
The bigger your own vision, the more clarity and belief that you have, your leads potential grows exponentially.
When I started out, with zero experience in sales or network marketing, it was a disaster. Anyone else given my circumstances and the horrific non-mentoring I received, would have quit.
Because my vision was so big, I somehow, painfully, found enough people to go to those meetings I dreaded that I looked like I was growing in that company (looked like because I won box loads of awards, but earned a practically no money) .
That experience almost turned me off to network marketing forever. But, I stayed long enough to know that I could do it if I wanted to do it, but it was the wrong company, the wrong comp plan, and didn’t match my vision.
I’m glad I didn’t give up, as I truly believe there is no where else that through our own efforts, with minimal start-up costs, I can help people build a 6 and 7-figure income within a reasonable amount of time.
Many people have had an unprofessional experience like I had in their network marketing career.
In my next company, I was told to buy leads and given a script to memorize. I thought of the script as worth a million dollars, so I practiced the few lines, imagining the conversation on the other end. I celebrated the tiniest win when calling mostly dead beat leads who wanted something for nothing.
In comparison, that was way easier. I wasn’t very good at it, and the lead lists I bought weren’t very good, but I did believe in the company and the income potential, so I would spend $1,000 to earn $1,000, knowing that 2/3 of those people would go to the next levels like I did and the income was huge. It got harder for me when I saw people spend $20,000, have a good time, but not get a return on their investment. After all, I really wanted to make a positive contribution to people’s lives.
My vision to lead a team of 1,000’s living their dreams, whether that’s freed up time with family, a car payment or free products for better health and wellness, or a 6-7 figure income, has never changed.
I’m a little more tired now, though, and not as willing to call 500 tire kickers from a crummy list I paid for to get one sale. If I don’t want to do it, I’m not going to ask my teammates to do it.
However, I would absolutely call 500 people from a targeted list of leads who are very likely to be prospective customers and associates. And, learning (and teaching others) to generate 10 to 20 people per day, who are seriously looking to work with me and want more out of life, isn’t that even better?
Ultimately, leads are the lifeblood of your business. Even if you have a huge circle of influence, sooner or later, you’ve called everyone in it. Most people don’t have that out of the gate. You want to learn the right way to approach that circle. Yes. After all, wouldn’t you share any great new movie or restaurant or life enhancing thing you’ve discovered? You wouldn’t withhold something you love, just because you might also earn money from them using it.
And simultaneously, it makes sense to learn how to use the internet, marketing strategies, and principles to attract to you a continously building list of people to qualify them as a possible prospect.
I have two main resources for my marketing training. I highly encourage you to get the foundation you need to learn how to market yourself in any business from Attraction Marketing Formula. Follow the 10-day free bootcamp. My other resource geared to lead generation for network marketing directly is My Lead System Pro. Generate leads that pay for themselves. You really can do this.
Yes, I earn money from people who do these courses. It pays for my own marketing activity. It will do the same for you. If you’re serious about building your business, doesn’t it make sense to find the right way to build it from 7 and even 8 figure earners in network marketing and online business? I wish these programs were around 15 years ago when I started. It would have saved me a lot of unnecessary struggle.
To your success, Sharon
P.S. Comment on this post and I will work with you personally to get you launched to get targeted leads for your business if you get started on either of these programs.
